A person may believe everything the Bible says about Christ – even that He died for his sins and arose from the dead. But if the sinner refuses to “take him” – that is, to trust Him and His work on the cross in his behalf – he will be just as lost as if he had openly and blatantly denied Jesus. Saving faith, you see, is not simply recognizing that certain facts about Christ are true. It is reaching out by faith, personally accepting God’s remedy for sin, and entrusting the destiny of our souls to Him for eternity. It is saying, “Save me, Lord Jesus. I believe You can and will.” That’s “taking the medicine” – that’s receiving Christ! – Richard W. De Haan
Look unto Him where’er thou be,
Look unto Him and live;
He’ll speak the word and set you free,
For life is His to give. – McLendon
Faith is not just believing that Jesus can save, it’s trusting that He will.
